European Union

With the assistance of the EU4Energy Governance project, Ukraine is preparing a strategy and roadmap for mobilising investments to renovate and upgrade existing buildings so they are more energy efficient. Next week, the project will organise the first meeting with state authorities to discuss cooperation and the first steps for preparing the strategy.

The strategy will describe the policies and measures required to assist building and homeowners to implement energy efficiency technologies, including investments in “nearly zero-energy buildings”, which are buildings that have very high energy performance and use a low of amount of energy that mostly comes from renewable energy.

NZEB Ukraine

Ukraine has committed to reaching a national target of 9% energy savings by 2020, and new targets until 2030 were prepared with the support of the EU4Energy Governance project. Energy-efficient buildings will play a key role in achieving energy saving targets.

The strategy will put in motion financing measures that will be provided to citizens to renovate existing buildings so they are more energy efficient. It will also provide a clear picture of the current breakdown of the building stock in the country so the proposed measures are appropriate to the needs of buildings in Ukraine. The strategy will also help state authorities clearly communicate to citizens energy-efficient, cost-effective approaches that can be implemented.
