The first stakeholder meeting to launch support for the update of current electricity procurement procedures in Moldova took place in Chisinau on 9 September. Throughout the year, Energy Community Secretariat experts, representatives of the National Agency for Energy Regulation of the Republic of Moldova (ANRE), Moldelectrica, distribution system operators and suppliers will work together to review the regulatory framework and draft new procurement procedures. Furthermore, an assessment and specifications for an efficient electronic process for electricity procurement will be prepared.

This project is implemented under the EU4Energy project framework and is aimed at increasing the efficiency of the next procurement process which is expected in the first quarter of 2020. New procedures will ensure transparency and a level playing field between potential electricity suppliers, whilst preparing Moldova to deploy an open wholesale market expected before 2023.
