On 14–15 July, Korosten City Council hosted representatives of Covenant of Mayors – East (CoM East) signatories. Representatives from the Boyarka, Boryslav, Krasnosilsk, Kuyalnyk and Novi Sanzhary communities took part in the study visit, together with Oksana Kysil, CoM East national expert in Ukraine.

Over two days, participants visited projects Korosten has implemented in energy efficiency, renewable energy and municipal energy management. The programme included examples of thermal modernisation of public buildings, solar energy installations at critical infrastructure sites, cogeneration units, a municipal energy monitoring system, heat pumps in the private sector, and biomass and solar generation projects at healthcare facilities.

“Korosten has been a CoM East signatory and a leader in developing strategic documents and implementing projects that bring the community closer to European sustainable development standards for a decade. We invited the new signatory communities to see the city’s experience first-hand,” said Oksana Kysil, CoM East national expert in Ukraine.

Participants also discussed energy independence, diversification of energy sources, uninterrupted operation of critical infrastructure and access to international technical assistance.
