The anniversary conference
Over 200 participants from five countries gathered in Chișinău to mark 15 years of local climate action. Iwona Piórko, EU Ambassador to Moldova, said the anniversary was also a moment to look ahead to the next phase of work on climate action, energy efficiency, resilience, and sustainable local development.
Eight municipalities from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Moldova and Ukraine received CoM East Awards, recognised for progress in low-carbon and climate-resilient development.

The issue features four signatory stories:
- Stepanavan, Armenia — solar panels, modernised streets and a long-term energy plan show what CoM East membership has built.
- Solonytsivka, Ukraine — the community moved from reactive decisions to a systematic, long-term energy plan.
- Opishnia, Ukraine — solar panels on schools and data-driven decisions reflect a community that thinks long-term.
- Ialoveni, Moldova — a commitment to CoM East drove a 78 per cent cut in energy consumption across municipal buildings.
